AS ALL ROADS LEAD TO GRAND FINAL DAY, FINAL POSITIONS REMAIN UP FOR GRABS

As the 2019 Intrust Super Shute Shield heads towards another memorable Grand Final contest – this one, for the first time, at state-of-the-art Bankwest Stadium at Parramatta on Saturday, August 24 -  all eyes are on contenders fighting out for the Minor Premiership crown and the final six qualifying finals spots.

 

The action continues this weekend when Round 18 unfolds with the race for the Minor Premiership on in earnest between Warringah, Sydney University and Eastwood, while a resurgent Gordon and Eastern Suburbs renew their respective battles to clinch a spot in the Top 6.

 

Following their last gap win over Gordon last round, the Beasties line-up in a crucial contest against Eastwood at Woollahra Oval on Saturday, which can be viewed live and free on 7TWO at 3pm.

 

The three Qualifying Finals will be held on Saturday and Sunday, August 10 and 11, with two games again live and free on 7TWO.

 

This year, the Semi-Finals will be played as an exciting double-header on Saturday, August 17. Also televised, these games will determine who travels up Parramatta Road the following Saturday for the Intrust Super Shute Shield decider which will be seen live on the Seven Network.

 

NSW Waratahs and Wallaby greats have strongly supported this year’s Intrust Super Shute Shield competition, pointing out the important pathway grassroots and club rugby plays in creating opportunities at the senior representative level. The quality, speed and standard of the Intrust Super Shute Shield is at an all-time high, and it continues to improve every year. This year, Wallabies Jack Maddocks, Jake Gordon, Nick Phipps, Jack Dempsey, Karmichael Hunt and Harry Johnson-Holmes have played in the competition at various times. Of this group, Sydney University prop Harry Johnson-Holmes made his Wallabies debut against South Africa in late July, receiving his call from head coach Michael Cheika after he finished training with the Students, with an invitation to hop on the first aircraft to Johannesburg.
