After a huge season for the West Harbour Pirates and Greater Sydney Rams in 2017, Kelly Meafua was given the nod to ply his trade with the NSW Waratahs in 2018. The 27-year-old back-rower grew up in the small village of Lalomauga in Samoa, making the move to Auckland at the age of 14. It wasn’t until 2010 that Meafua realised his potential on the rugby field, making his first-grade debut for Otahuhu Rugby Club in Auckland later that year. It did not take him long to excel through the ranks, putting on outstanding performances for the Auckland U21s before spots in both the Auckland 7s and Samoa 7s teams.
A proud father of five, Meafua also spent time in the Northern Hemisphere, notching up 64 games for Narbonne (France).
